Members Picker
With my new purchases, my studio is almost complete (at least for the basics). Running PC - 2.6 ghz - 1gig ram dual 120 gig SATA HDD. Cakewalk Sonar Producer 5.0 M-audio Delta 66 and Delta 1010 sound cards Event TR8 XL monitors Pres. M-Audio Omni Studio (2 mic pres) Seventh Circle Audio N72 (neve type) pres (x2) old A&H mixer if I need more. Mics. AKG 414 BULS - LDC Peluso CEMC6 matched pair - SDC (new.. should receive tomorrow) SM 57, SM58, Senn e855 AKG D 112 Instruments. Drumset, guitars, Bass, MIDI controller, Soft Synths. So now I think I finally have all my bases covered. Next, I need to work on the room and add bass traps and some sound treatement (I know... maybe should have done this first).. Anyway... I'm happy with the progress. After working on the room, here's what's next on the list. 1. A couple more preamps would be nice. 2. Compressor -- RNC or better -- using software for now. 3. Maybe another SM57 or and RE 20 4. Talent, experience, and writing ability. I'm just happy to finally have the basic setup down. Thought I'd share my joy

I've been quite happy with them so far. I auditioned several in my price range and liked the sound of the Events the best..... Perhaps I should rephrase that.... They didn't necessarily sound the "best", but rather sounded the most "accurate" to my ears. Very flat and detailed response which is what I was looking for to mix. Members Picker
By the way... I got the Pelusos last night and was quite impressed. I tested them recording my accoustic guitar and they really do sound Great!!... I haven't tried them as Drum overheads yet, but for recording accoustic guitar, I couldn't be happier... very very nice.

Hey, let's not be silly now...no studio is ever "almost complete"!!! It's a giant Money Monster that needs constant feeding!! Seriously, congratulations! It's always a thrill to get something up and running so you can record stuff. Pictures?

Members Picker
Here's a quick clip from my first test with the pelusos Mic 1 about 8" out around the 12th fret angled slightly toward the soundhole.Mic 2 over my left shoulder pointing down. Recorded the guitar w/ no effects at all. Then added the vocals using the AKG 414 and put some compression and reverb on the vocal. The level was a little low so I increased the level on the entire track by about 6db. Thats' it. Remember that this was just an inital test and only one take, so please excuse the mistakes etc. Myfirstclip
Phil O'Keefe
That sounds pretty good Picker. What type of guitar was it? And we're looking forward to seeing those pics.

Members alcohol
Picker, the list looks good. What has been your experience with the Seventh circle mic pres? Have you run bass guitar and bass drum through them yet? Or are you running the overheads through them with the A&H taking care of the BD?
