Eh...the 2 songs I've heard don't impress me. The only thing I liked about them is the farty synth sound on "Hold It Against Me".

I hate to say it but she's still HUGE and worldwide..

Why hate to say it? We should all be happy for whatever success that one of our fraternity enjoys! I'm especially happy to see her coming back from the (mostly self-inflicted) problems she's been through.

I don't own any of her products, & I'm certainly not a fan, but I'm always glad when somebody figures out a way to succeed in the music business. That goes for anybody on this forum, too!

If I think someone has a product that sucks, why should I be happy if they succeed with it? Why should I care?

I wouldn't say I hate it, it would be useless, but being happy for Britney's success? Are you kidding me lol

Good for her though...

Yeah, heard this track already - fart synth bass, that's funny. I say bring back the minimoog "OW" bass patch. That's my personal fave. Like in "Everything She Wants" by Wham. OW OW OW.

Regarding Britney and her career - don't care.

Is she still a viable artist? Really?

You wouldn't work one more hour in your life if you

wrote only one line of lyrics for one of Britney's song,

ask Lisa, however she wrote more then one line

of lyrics, and not only for Britney

unfortunately for me, I don't write teen-pop-drivel... but you are correct....there is money to be made pandering to that market...but it is still pandering. Don't get me wrong, either, we are all whores in some sense, because we will perform for $...but there are limits even a prostitute will set.

unfortunately I compose and produce all genre of music, okay, I never composed a Balinese gamelan work, and no, I am not a whore at all. I am simply a composer, and I don't give a damn what the music genre or substyle is I create, but I aknowledge that hobbyist, who have a bank job, can choose from all the commissions they are offered from the entertainment world

here a soundtrack of mine from december 2010:

22 song writers and her first single is a {censored}ing horrible pickup line with an average melody. And no, I'm not saying this because I hate her. I actually enjoy some of her music, so I'm not biased.

I agree with two things:

1. Lots of folks look down on top 40 pop songs, and say they'd never write them, but writing a really good catchy pop song is very difficult. Please note the word "good" in my sentence.

2. That particular Britney song is not a really good catchy pop song.

I personally love many top 40 songs of today but mostly for how catchy they are. The lyrics of most are terrible. It seems today so many song writers work of off pure natural talent rather than skill, they don't learn the craft and have no idea what they are doing.

Can't someone write a good catchy pop song with great lyrics these days? :( I'm working on it :) haha

If you build it, will they come? :)

But I know what you mean. Where's the next Nick Lowe?

Yes! Back when people knew what meter was and when there was more of a structure in the lyrics. I like modern pop, my favorite band is Metallica but all of my favorite lyricists are much older.

There is only one metre (AE meter) in English language, no matter if you speak, or if you sing.

Rudy...do you ever post sober?

In this sense, meter as the rhythmic quality of word flow

Example: iambic pentameter

Beethoven was sober all the time, and you can hear that in his music, but he used all metre.

English however is an accentual language, and therefore beats and offbeats take the place of the long and short syllables of classical systems. In most English verse, the meter can be considered as a sort of back beat. The most common characteristic feet of English verse are the iamb in two syllables and the anapest in three.
