Members mikedavid00 Posted March 14, 2011 Members Posted March 14, 2011 Again sventvkg making it look easy. A natural song writer and singer. That is the hallmark of a great artists. He can come into the studio and write a song on the spot. I think that any aspiring artist can learn from sventvkg who has real musical talent. Whether he draws a fan base on stage, has youth, and all the other non musical things, one thing we know for sure is that he can write songs. That's important.
Members sventvkg Posted March 14, 2011 Author Members Posted March 14, 2011 Thanks Bro! I work really hard and I believe in the song! When i'm on stage I bring it too because it just needs to be done!!! All I can say fellow songwriters and musicians is the harder we work, the luckier and better we get!
Members fatusstratus Posted March 14, 2011 Members Posted March 14, 2011 Thanks Bro! I work really hard...the harder we work, the luckier and better we get! know what kungfu literally translates to?
Members mikedavid00 Posted March 14, 2011 Members Posted March 14, 2011 Yes it translates to high skill. That's what sventvkg has. The best way for him to write songs is to do them in large batches, and then he can pick out the real winners. Supposedly 4 songs of every 100 written actually make it to become a reality. There's almost no such thing as a hit writer who everything they write is a hit. Many will just have 1 hit in their whole song writing career. This is why putting out numbers in the way he's doing it is very important. I suggest he write a song a day, or 7 songs a week. End up with 365 songs in the year. And then I'm sure there'd be hits in there judging by his song writing quality. The reason why it's important to do songs on different days and not all at once is because we have natural up and down days as humans. We need to capture the sad days and the happy days. Also the weather outside, life events.. these sorts of things. These all effect the song writing. It could be around Christmas the perfect song is written. It's very subconscious. I consider him a solid song writer with big label potential and hit writing ability. I feel he needs to write more songs and build a large catalog. There will be something in there for everyone.
Members sventvkg Posted March 14, 2011 Author Members Posted March 14, 2011 Well the thing with writing "hits" is that I can't stand the stuff on country radio. It's dumbed down, cliche' and just really really bad for the most part...Ever heard the song " Pretty Good at Drinking Beer"?? Sadly there are a lot of guys on music row puking this drivel out..I'm not going to do it and believe me, it's easy to write for me..Predictable cliche' {censored} that has pretty set guidelines as far as lyrics, song length, etc...I just think pushing this stuff is the wrong long term strategy and it's going to come back to haunt music row. There are plenty of real and great songs floating around here and to me, all the timeless hit of the past are still with us because many of them weren't by the numbers cliches like much of what's coming off the row these days. As far as writing 7 songs a week, i could do it but these days when writing alone which nobody does on Music row anymore by the way, I wait for something that feels right rather than just spewing. I've written at least a thousand songs in my life so I have a pretty good gauge on what I think its good so I run with that instead of just every idea that comes my way. Kind of a quality over quantity thing. I don't have an interest in writing throwaway songs anymore. Even the top guys on the row that I know of don't write 50 songs a year alone. Once I start writing with more co-writers I think I can get to about 150 a year and have 30-50 a year on top of that that I write for myself, alone. It takes a lot of time though and with family, performing, recording, demoing, etc, ya have to balance it.
