Ok, got the Epi Gold Top this morning and the bridge pup looks way low, I've measured the neck at 10mm, which seems pretty std, but the bridge is low and consequently over quiet at 16mm.....whats the protocol with pups screwed to bodies? Pack em out inderneath, or use the adjustable pole piece.....5-6 mm seems a lot to get from pole pieces?

I see you made your 100 posts

are the P90s mounted to the wood? are there any spacers? or springs?

if there are sprigs, just bring them up till they sound right

if you have to use spacers, cut up an old mouse pad and use that

well, they were......I just got some rubber tubes from my Tele bridge pup which I ripped apart last night to get jiggy wid and stuck those in........some people seem to say as little as 1/8" or 3-4mm...which sounds a bit bloody close. Spose its experiment time.

Indeed I crashed thru the hundred in a most undistinguished fashion:(

Had to spend time apologisin about talking about ladies bits:rolleyes:

OK, I took some temporary remedial measures and got the pups height to 5mm, and I've tweaked the individual poles............this fecking thing sings!!! It just begs to be overdriven, the Vox is bring out some lovely sounds from even my pathetic hands, I am extremely chuffed....bloody bloody nice guitar, difficult to tell its been used and all for 200 of our English pounds.

I see theres quite a few threads on this "problem".....I gotta admit that the standard height settings make the guitar sound beatifully "acoustic"....I wonder if theres some philosophy behind the vast difference in pup height?

Fire off a question to Gibson/Epiphone maybe?

OK, I emailed the Gibson dudes and they got back to me within hours.....so good stuff there:

These are the dimensions they gave me:

Pickup height: Neck (rhythm) pickup: 3/32" (2.38125 mm)

(measured from top of pole to bottom of string)

Bridge (treble) pickup: 1/16" (1.5875 mm)

(measured from top of pole to bottom of string)

Thats sounds pretty tight to me1.58mm between bridge pup n strings?
