Members elamberth
Well, I went down into my basement studio this week to find 6+ inches of water down there. The sump failed - and it was only 3 years old! Bummer. Anyway, the computer, Otari 2-track, and power supply for my Tascam M-3500 mixer were on the floor. Everything else I think is fine. Anyone have any advice on any hope of salvaging the power supply and Otari? The Hard drive for the computer is intact and dry and I can plug it into another machine. So far I have just dried everything out and not turned on anything yet. Thanks.

Members alcohol
That's why I built a sub-floor over my basement floor. Sorry man, I can only give you my condolences.
Phil O'Keefe
Once they get immersed in water, I think it's a good idea to have a qualified tech check them out. I wouldn't recommend DIY unless you're an experienced electronics tech. Sorry to hear about the flood.
Members elamberth
Well, thanks for the thoughts and advice! I actually had powered up the power supply for the mixer after it dried out, and it seems to work ok. Whew. The computer and hard drive are a loss. The motors on the Otari work fine, but I think I will need a new cricuit board. All in all, it could have been a lot worse.
Members UstadKhanAli
Wow, that blows so bad.... We've always kept the computer off the floor because of crap like that happening, and we don't have a basement. Even a few inches can often help (in your case, I guess about 7 inches would have been the magic number). I would agree with the other advice - take it to a professional. Sorry again to hear about the flooding. That really sucks. I hope everything works out well.
