Members goinpostal Posted September 20, 2010 Members Posted September 20, 2010 What exactly are the usage rights to songs if I want to do parodies pertaining to the good and bad sides of being a mailman? For example Buddy Guy's song "Damn Right I Got the Blues" changed to "The Blues of Wearing the Blues" with of course the lyrics changed. I do plan on recording "my" songs to CD. I attended a songwriter's seminar back in 1978 that covered all the new laws and I know there have been multiple changes since then. Thanks and again an apology for something that has already been asked.
Moderators daddymack Posted September 21, 2010 Moderators Posted September 21, 2010 Parody has a special place within the licensing system. "Fair Use"....if you can prove it...We did indeed cover this albeit briefly in this thread Read this as well...
