Members Hallex
Hello, S-PDIF RCA cable vs audio RCA vs video composite RCA What is the difference between those 3 cables? They have the same plug(it seems), but can i interchange them? I am in the process of buying new audio monitor, JBL LSR4326P, and since it has an S/PDIF RCA input, i want to use it with the S/PDIF output of my soundcard. Does an ordinary RCA cable can do the job? Thank you

Purists will argue jitter, capacitance, etc. but a high quality RCA to RCA composite video dubbing cable is good enough to run SPDIF for all practical purposes. One of those gray RS RCA audio cables might be pushing your luck, although I've used one in a pinch. One spec for SPDIF cable is 75 ohm coax which is good up to 10m / 30ft. So a standard (high quality) AV cable will work just fine. Terry D.
Members Geosync
Video and SPDIF both use 75 ohm cables Either one is OK
