Whatever you do, do NOT upgrade your myspace profile

Yeah, yeah, myspace is dead, except that it's still somewhat useful in certain situations. Anyway, if you see something about upgrading your profile, don't {censored}ing do it. You'll be stuck with your bio saying whatever it says. I have no idea why these dip{censored}s lock your bio information, but I thought I'd be able to just close the page and not have it convert my page, since I hadn't saved anything yet, but nope. My page is {censored}ed. Stuck with a cluster{censored} of a bunch of crap that made sense in the old version that makes no sense being crammed into this one. Oh well, since myspace is mostly dead, I guess it's not that big of a deal. But just be warned. You won't like what it does if you have a custom profile. Instead of improving their site, they made it worse.

Rumor has it they will be converting all profiles to the 2.0 layout sometime soon- a lot of bands are already updating to it and adjusting to the changes.

Guess we just have to do deal with it.

Yeah .. it wouldn't let me update my gig schedule until I upgraded... then I couldn't upgrade my bio, which I was using as a "living document".. BS.. would have been nice to have been warned that upgrading makes some changes permanent.

So I'm thinking of just deleting the myspace altogether since every day my page personally gets more outdated, and I can't do anything about it.

Fbook has certainly evolved enough to replace myspace as a "common" epk...

I like the new layout (but the name this does suck).

I had the same problem you guys do, but they haven't limited anything other than the name. They are just very bad at telling you how to do it.

To change things like your Bio, you have to view your profile while logged in then click Customize somewhere near your name. From here you get the interface you had when you upgraded. To change the content of a particular module, just hover over it and a gear along with something else (delete, I think) will appear near the top right corner. Just click the gear and a dialogue box appears allowing you to change the content. HTML still works too.

The old bio information can still be edited the old way. This content IS displayed on the site, but you have to click somewhere for more information, which I would presume, almost no one does.

It took me weeks to figure this out. Overall, I like it, but they could have done a MUCH better job explaining it.

Thanks. I figured it out the other day. I don't know why they lie and tell you that the bio can't be changed when it can. Idiots.

When MySpace upgraded last time they lost one of my songs and switched me from unsigned to major. If they force an upgrade check your profiles over.

MySpace should just stick to conserving their artists' profile. They should shed off the "social-networking concept". They cannot beat Facebook anymore.
