Members richardmac
I did a search of HC forums and came up empty. Has anyone had any experience with the new AKG C 214? I am a big fan of the 414 but my budget is small. Am wondering about the 214.
Phil O'Keefe
I have not heard it yet, but it's supposed to be a cardioid only version of the most recent C414 model.
Members nerol1st
If it's the same thing as the 414 in cardioid mode I say WIN.
Phil O'Keefe
From what I hear, that's basically what it is.
Members CME
FWIW I haven't tried one but I've heard the CAD M179 is suppose to be a "poor man's" 414. I've been looking at getting some eventually. When my budget allows.
Members sc4589
Apologies for the late reply, but... the C214 is fantastic. I use 2 414 LTDs and a '90s ULS 414 at my studios, and bought a 214 just for light home use. Definitely has the 414 sound, maybe a little brighter. Fantastic for: - Acoustic guitar - Electric guitar - Vocals - Saxophone - Trumpet - Hammond organ That's all the stuff I've used it with so far. Totally worth it.
