Approaching an agency as a solo....bassist

Through friends of mine, I've been invited to 'audition' (if this is the right word) for a small agency which works in my city. I've checked the company out by talking with both my friend's and some other bands, and they seem to be both very professional and also fairly friendly.

On my side, I've got a lot of written material and some stuff recorded, and I am perfectly willing to do anything the company asks.

But that's the problem: I'm on my own. Completely and utterly. I've been in bands, and I've played gigs in bands, but as of several months ago, I'm on my own, partially because no-one around here wants to play what I do.

So- am I more or less likely to get anywhere with agencies if I'm alone? Also, is there anything specific they will look for in a solo player which I should be aware of?

Any help appreciated?

PS: I should point out I'm a solo BASSIST, although I'm also playing keyboards and drums on my songs.

PPS: When I say 'agency' I'm talking about a gig organiser and promoter essentially, although they will also assist in recording and record sales.

hmmm, yeah, well, let's face facts...solo bass gigs are ...well, let's just say pretty rare. But I am sure yo ualready know that. So I don't know exactly what you are expecting from this agency, but if they can hook you up with likeminded players already in their stable, that would be good for you. If they can get you studio work, tha twould be a plus as well.

Anything that is going to get me playing what I want, as I want is a good thing in my book.

I'm not expecting a 7 day a week, 6 hours a day gig schedule. I'm expecting to play.

Are you expecting the agency to hook you up with other players? Do you sing?

What are you looking to accomplish, or what is it this agency is expected to do for you?? Everything is really vague.

It's simple- I want to play music. It will be a lot easier on my part if I had an agency backing me, whether this means I'm playing session or playing solo.

I can't sing but I do play several instruments, so I have that in my favor.

I'm not happy to become a 'weekend warrior' musician. I want to play gigs that go slightly beyond that, and in a dream scenario I'd love to be semi-pro. Thing is, I'm a prog musician and so it's harder. Not only that, but most of the higher-end gig organisers won't touch anyone who hasn't got an agent.

I apologise if this sounds muso-ish or arrogant, but I'm just rather ambitious. I also apologise for the vague OP, I was typing on a VERY sore wrist and so was very brief.
