Members sabriel9v Posted April 1, 2010 Members Posted April 1, 2010 http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/blog/2010/apr/01/apple-itunes-music-pirates-go-legit The music industry is presumably looking forward quite eagerly to the passage of the digital economy bill, which introduces new measures to punish people who frequently download songs, films and TV programmes illegally and is expected to pass into law next week. The industry will be aiming to capitalise on the resulting publicity about illegal downloading and the new sanctions in order to start getting more money out of the consumer again. A recent study backed by the TUC and European unions found that a quarter of a million British jobs in the music, film, TV, software and other creative industries and around £218bn in revenue could be lost over the next five years if online piracy continues at its current rate. Moderators daddymack Posted April 1, 2010 Moderators Posted April 1, 2010 well, as this is a UK bill...it won't do anythng for the rest of the world...at least not for some time. That said, recognizing the problem needs to be dealth with at the legislative level is a step in the right direction. Maybe we need to give teh UN domain over the internet...oh, wait, then nothing will ever get done about his ...
