Members sodakker
I would like to record in order of use:1.) spoken voice2.) acoustic mandolin3.) rarely mic my guitar amp It looks like there are three popular, inexpensive condenser mics that have excellent reviews. AKG Perception 120, Shure PG27, Audio Technica AT2020 Which one do you recommend?
Phil O'Keefe
Probably any of them would be fine. I've heard the 2020, but not the other two, so I can't give you an opinion based on personal experience or direct comparisons between them - sorry. Maybe someone else will have tried all three and can offer an opinion. FWIW, if the "spoken voice" is your own, and that's what you'll be using the mic for the most, I'd head down to the store and try all three and go with whichever one sounds best with your voice. You should be able to make whichever one it is work with the acoustic guitar and mandolin.
Members aZnrockstar
I've heard very positive reviews on the AT2020, especially for the price. Haven't used it myself, though.
Members Tomm Williams
And just in case you're interested, used Oktava 219's can be found around $100 quite easily. Nice mic.
Members CME
A good cheap one I'm a fan of is the CAD M179. Worth looking into IMO.
Members Lee Flier
+275838292 on the CAD M179. Unbelievable mic for the price, or even if you're not considering the price.
