Members sabriel9v Posted February 15, 2010 Members Posted February 15, 2010 I'm recording some new songs at the end of this month and I want to post them up anywhere...but myspace. I like myspace because it gives you a url address for free and anyone can stream your songs on it, but I also dislike it because it's myspace (hopefully thats self-explanatory). I've looked at lala and reverbnation as possible alternatives. I really like the direction those sites are moving in and I can tell they have some intelligent business forces pushing them behind the scenes. Has anyone tried out these sites?
Members Sheraton Player Posted February 15, 2010 Members Posted February 15, 2010 If you're just throwing up some demos and stuff, and are constantly gonna be taking things up and down.... Try www.soundclick.com If you are actually putting up finished, completed albums, try www.bandcamp.com
Members sabriel9v Posted February 15, 2010 Author Members Posted February 15, 2010 I've got a soundclick account for my jams, but I want something separate from that to show people it's an actual project/ep.
Members 3shiftgtr Posted February 15, 2010 Members Posted February 15, 2010 band camp is cool cuz you can charge or not, it is free useage, and my fav part is that the user can pick the file format of choice...wav, mp3, aiff...or whatetver. And you don't have to submit an mp3 mix, a wav mix, etc.
Members sabriel9v Posted February 15, 2010 Author Members Posted February 15, 2010 Richardmac is always praising the merits of bandcamp. I'll look into it.
Members S.L.B. Posted February 16, 2010 Members Posted February 16, 2010 Reverbnation is an excellent site. The free promotional tools are unmatched IMO. I use the widegets to populate all our other sites and use it for hosting these things like our songs/video/dates etc. I'm looking into using it for an EPK as well although I wasn't sold on their original roll out on that feature. Also, has great functionality with facebook which is a must now days.
Members Poker99 Posted February 19, 2010 Members Posted February 19, 2010 I love reverbnation, but lately I have a lot of problems with the widgets. They are slow and they sometime freeze. Many people on our list couldn't get our last single because of that. I switched to the bandcamp widget and now everything is fine!
