Members where02190 Posted August 11, 2005 Members Posted August 11, 2005 Incredible weather, and a lineup of some of the hottest acts in traditional and latin jazz going. My 5th year as FOH and production coordinator for this now very popular festival in Goshen, Ct. Along with my good buddy and monitor engineer extrordinare Todd Winmil, we once again worked the magic of live music to the masses in style. Mccoy Tyne and Mary Stallings got things started right after a downpour friday night that broke the heat and humidity. At 80, Eartha Kitt can still get a rise out of any man, and what a voice....a legend for sure. Newcomer Sonya Kitchell with her Nora Jonesish style of music, won over the audience quickly. Karrin Allison is a wonderful lady, the consumate pro, with a great voice. Latin Jazz from Luis Minoz kicked off sunday morning better than the fresh brewed java on monitor beach!!!!!!! At 85, Dave Brubeck is still a master at both the piano and spinning a tale. Not a bad way to spend the first weekend of August, sometimes I really love my job!!!!
Members thefunkman Posted August 11, 2005 Members Posted August 11, 2005 Blast my timing! I was in Greenwich and Westerly R.I. last Monday-thru-Thursday, and was battling taxi's in NYC Friday & Saturday! I shoulda been groovin' with you instead!
Members where02190 Posted August 12, 2005 Author Members Posted August 12, 2005 In the 5 years I've done this festival, this was by far the best year.
Members fulcrum Posted August 13, 2005 Members Posted August 13, 2005 I was working a few miles south of you in Southbury at the time, finishing up a 12-hour shift. I try never to miss Dave Brubeck if I can help it... I keep saying the nation is not going to know what it has in him until he's gone... but I had to give it a miss this time. Who is that in the pic anyway?
Members where02190 Posted August 14, 2005 Author Members Posted August 14, 2005 That is the legendary Eartha Kitt.
