Members deanmass Posted August 13, 2005 Members Posted August 13, 2005 These seemed stupid to me at first, but dang, I like it! I listened to Ebert while I played scrabble with a friend tonight.
Members NoelEiffe Posted August 13, 2005 Members Posted August 13, 2005 My favorite is Harry Shearer's Le Show. Very funny political wisecracking.
Members blue2blue Posted August 13, 2005 Members Posted August 13, 2005 Yeah, it's a great way of making things like radio shows available online, since the listener can listen at his own pace -- and, of course, in his portable player, which is the big draw. (And as Harry Shearer pointed out when he announced the podcast of his show, since his podcast has the music removed, some folks like it better because it doesn't have all the musical "filler"... now if they'd make one available without his new "LA Dogtrainer Corrections of the Week" feature -- that would be a big improvement. (Are you googling me, Harry?) PS... I just got an email saying one of my tunes was included in this regular podcast out of Minneapolis: Radio Orphans Podcast 7

Members BenOne Posted August 14, 2005 Members Posted August 14, 2005 I've liked what I've heard from the Berkeley Groks Science Show:http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~clgroks/Good interviews with interesting science people, done with a nice college-radio feel. --Ben
Members Anderton Posted August 14, 2005 Members Posted August 14, 2005 Hey! Think we should do some podcasts on the site? Interviews with people, spoken reviews about gear, maybe a "you are at the NAMM show" kind of thing?
Members deanmass Posted August 14, 2005 Author Members Posted August 14, 2005 This why you have a forum and we don't ! The more I am looking into the podcast, the more significant they seem to be. So far, the Ebert one and a Nasa Astro cast are the only two I have listened to, but I was in the midst of three different data recovery projects at the time. I may try the Shearer onem because I like political satire. GOt me wondering if the Daily Show was podcasting.

Interviews with people, spoken reviews about gear, maybe a "you are at the NAMM show" kind of thing? They're certainly easy enough for just about everybody here to create and edit. What's made it so easy is the brilliant simplicity of the iTunes access...iTunes manages the subscriptions for you, and while it's rare that I'm willing to give major kudos to Steve Jobs, this particular implementation is truly inspired. Deanmass: I don't know if the Daily Show is online, but you can get podcasts from Al Franken and a few other of the Air America crowd.
