Members Anderton Posted August 15, 2005 Members Posted August 15, 2005 My daughter has a pop music station she likes to listen to out of Albuquerque...and at the end of each tune, an automated voice annouces the artist and song!! It's about time...drives me up the wall to hear something I like and have no way to know what it is. Apparently it's encoded into the tune so the DJ doesn't have to do anything. Let's hope this becomes a trend!! One of the things I like so much about satellite radio is I can look at the display and see the artist and title.
Members MorePaul Posted August 15, 2005 Members Posted August 15, 2005 That's cool A number of stations are doing that online playlist thing, often with a low-fi "demo stream"so I've gotten in the habit of noting the time if I hear something of interest I'm glad to see those announcements though I'm still hoping to see Sat radio become a bigger outlet for "non-talk radio" spoken word maybe following a model like BBC 4 or 7
Members Anderton Posted August 15, 2005 Author Members Posted August 15, 2005 I love satellite radio. I'm listening to XM now. I even listen to things I normally don't listen to. Channel 71 is called "Watercolors" and is dangerously close to Kenny G territory. But a couple nights ago I wanted to hear SOMETHING and couldn't hack anything even remotely edgy, and 71 filled my needs. Probably won't listen to it again for quite some time, though... I wish they'd add a Chill/Ambient station and a World station, like the music show they do on Link TV.
Members geekgurl Posted August 15, 2005 Members Posted August 15, 2005 Craig, they have a World station ... I think it's called World Zone.
Members blue2blue Posted August 16, 2005 Members Posted August 16, 2005 Yeah, the online playlists thing is a heavensent. One time I went back the next day and found the name of a work. (It was the classical station KUSC and a longer work, so it was a little easier than picking out a single 3 minute song in an hour block.)
