Members PetersReviews Posted August 16, 2005 Members Posted August 16, 2005 Great thread! I've written down some to check out. My favorites are Brian McKnight - Music in High Places and Amanda Marshall - Live at the Corona Theatre. My current favorite instructional music DVD is Thomas Lang - Creative Control. Peter

Members nursers Posted August 16, 2005 Members Posted August 16, 2005 Originally posted by BLAblablah I've collected a few DVD concert videos, but my favorite video is an amazing VHS copy of a performance by Mike Oldfield doing his Tubular Bells sequel performed live years ago...I still keep wishing for it to be released on DVD. I originally sent a contribution to the local PBS afiliate to get the VHS. But I'm also crazy about the Blue Man Group DVD (where do you buy those PVC instruments? ), and Bela Fleck...what can you say? Amazing guy! Especially love seeing him live with the Flecktones. Barry I have a double DVD set of Mike Oldfield performing Tubular Bells 2 at Edinburgh castle, and TB 3 in London - you will find it's still available As far as my faves: Springsteen and the E Street Band - Live in NY Cyndi Lauper Live (released last year)

Members Lee Flier Posted August 16, 2005 Members Posted August 16, 2005 Too many to decide... Beatles Anthology, Gimme Shelter, the Rock'n'Roll Circus, Spinal Tap, Concert for George, the Kids Are Alright, A Hard Day's Night... and yeah, that Zep DVD doesn't suck.
Members Base Posted August 16, 2005 Members Posted August 16, 2005 THIS could be joining the list soon!!!!!
Moderators Lee Knight Posted August 16, 2005 Moderators Posted August 16, 2005 The Finns Brothers. The Bros at their best with an amazing band. Beautiful sound. Edible Flowers is delicious... The premise is... let's put together a show in a weekend. You see the meetings, rehearsals, then the show. Not in that order, but you get the idea. Really good. And... Neil's son's band play. They're in their early teens and play very well. They cover Split Endz with... Eddie Veder singing? Sounds weird but it works. It turns out Veder is a huge Split Endz/Crowded House fan.
Members Hard Truth Posted August 16, 2005 Members Posted August 16, 2005 "Ike n Tina Turner live 1971. all orange amps and ike looking like sonny bono."and Tina Turner and the Ikettes in outrageously short skirts doing synchronized burlesque moves. Tina is in top form vocally too! King Crimson-Eyes Wide Open-not as essential as Deja Vroom, but if you want more Crimson this is some very good stuff. It features Fripp and Belew with the rhythm section of Gunn and Mastellato.

Members blakeq Posted August 17, 2005 Members Posted August 17, 2005 Another vote for the Nine Inch Nails DVD, I saw the tour and was floored and the DVD was the same experience.
Phil O'Keefe Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Lee, thanks for mentioning A Hard Day's Night... a true classic IMO.

Members D Charles Posted August 18, 2005 Members Posted August 18, 2005 My fav is probably 'The Dance' by Fleetwood Mac. So much emotion flying around on that stage and an absolutely perfect performance. The Brian Setzer Orchestra live in Japan is the one that'll make you smile for days though. I really like Pat Benatar and Neil Geraldo live and the Heart, Alive in Seatle dvds too. Yeah, Concert for George had some emotion flying around the stage, but please dear God, don't let Tom Petty sing George songs again ever! (I like him on his stuff).
Members Ernest Buckley Posted August 18, 2005 Members Posted August 18, 2005 The Tom Dowd CD is amazing.
