Members Base Posted August 17, 2005 Members Posted August 17, 2005 Another bl00dy round of it, don't virus writers have anything better to do Anyway, sounds serious, my company is patching all machines now and my new virus checker (thanks whoever it was suggested that one!) was telling me to update this morning as soon as I switched it on... Some info here

Members franknputer Posted August 17, 2005 Members Posted August 17, 2005 Not true, although the newer systems are less susceptible. However, if you have a weak password set up (and lots of people do) then you might be at risk. Just patch the vulnerability.

Members franknputer Posted August 17, 2005 Members Posted August 17, 2005 It's a worm going around, hitting the latest exploit in Windows' Plug & Play service. There are about 11 variations at this point, spreading around the world. MS has released a patch for it about a week ago - the ones suffering are ones that aren't patched. Brings a whole new meaning to "Plug & Pray", doesn't it?
