Members gretelism Posted February 9, 2010 Members Posted February 9, 2010 There's a documentary about the music business currently in production. It's called Broke* (as in, can an artist break?). It's showcasing up-and-coming artists and dealing with how much the music business has changed in recent years, etc. If you want to know more the site is at:http://www.brokedoc.com
Members sabriel9v Posted February 9, 2010 Members Posted February 9, 2010 I thought it was called "Broke: the life and times of sabriel9v." It's interesting, I like the trailer. But the whole thing about us being modern day patrons and playing outside of the rules, eh, some of that is bull{censored}. If you don't have the financial resources to boost yourself to the next level, you're never going to break through the ceiling. It's like any other small business, how do you expect your plant that produces widgets to go from 100,000 to 500,000 widgets if you're not willing to hire more staff, put more money into widget production equipment and promoting and marketing your business? Where do you intend on getting that money and selling 500,000 widgets if you can't sell the 100,000 that you already produce?

Members paulz Posted February 9, 2010 Members Posted February 9, 2010 I understand it's just a teaser/trailer so it's compressed -- that being said, the trailer just looks/sounds like a collage of the sound-bites and buzzwords that surround the issue.I hope it tells us how we can virally aggregate our permissive marketing and link it to the wisdom of crowds through web 2.0 in order to nudge the tipping point into the long tail and realize how we decide about buyology is predictably irrational so that we can become freakonomically entangled with some outliers in a blink or the film might be broke adjinsolvent, without monetary resources adj - colloq of brokennot functioning, damaged
