Members pinup57 Posted August 18, 2005 Members Posted August 18, 2005 Hello I own a pair of wedges that are capable of decent sound, but the horns need some padding (attenuating). Does anyone know how to do this (with passive components I mean). Or could point me out to some site that covers this topic? Thanks Dirk PS No piezo horns, regular HF E-M drivers, passive crossover in the boxes.
Members Paully Posted August 18, 2005 Members Posted August 18, 2005 Temporarily disconnect hot wire from the crossover to the horn. Leave the ground wire connected. Install, and wire up an 8 ohm variable attenuator EXACTLY the same as the horn; the crossover's hot wire to one 'end' leg, and ground on the other 'end' leg. Then reconnect the speaker's hot wire to the 'center' leg of the attenuator. The attenuator should be at least 10 watts, and looks like a big potentiometer(which is what it is). Attenuators are available at most electronics outlets. If you need a schematic, PM me and I'll shoot one over to you. Can't get it to attach to this post. Good luck, Paul
