Members blue2blue Posted August 21, 2005 Members Posted August 21, 2005 A new Audio/Music oriented search engine perked my attention: http://audio.search.yahoo.com/ I just ran a handful of my song titles -- just the titles, mind you, no band name -- through Yahoo's Audio Search and I was deeelighted to find that they all came up with my band name and with links to my download page at Sounclick. That means that someone who can at least remember the name (or even part of the name) of one of your songs has a good chance of finding it/you, even if they can't remember your band name!
Members blue2blue Posted August 21, 2005 Author Members Posted August 21, 2005 And back on a personal note (it's always about me babe -- it always is) some of my song titles that were pretty generic like my song "Blue Money" or those that produced many multiple hits ("Baby Said") came up high in the returns. (#4 and #8 respectively -- my "Blue Money" was right under Van Morrison's [i knew that title sounded familiar when I wrote it.]) I'm sure that will change as more stuff gets indexed, but it's really kind of exciting to see yourself right there, even for a few minutes, next to Van Morrison, as though your dorky similarly titled song was only one notch below his in the universal mind. ______________________ PS... some of the returned search links even have a PLAY SAMPLE link... nice! (Not mine. Not yet. But... )
Members Ani Posted August 22, 2005 Members Posted August 22, 2005 Wow Blue2Blue, I just ran a search on some of my titles on the web and it turned some up. I "REALLY" need to go in and enter the "artist" name on those that are online. They "ARE" registered in the copyright office, and there is a copyright notice listed on the page where they are hosted, but I could at least enter my info on the mp3's themselves in the event anyone should take an interest in rerecording them or something... As it stands, it shows the artist as being ARTIST Duh.... procrastination takes the cake... Here's what Yahoo had to say about a couple of tunes with easy names... I "REALLY" need to rerecord these myself with my Sonar4 and the Yamaha i88x ...plus put a little bit of effect on the vox File "Everything You Do" can be found on the web page below File name: Everything_You_Do_.mp3 Details: MPEG, 4.5MB, 4:52 This download may be subject to copyright. File "Love Junkie 98K" can be found on the web page below File name: Love Junkie 98K.mp3 Details: MPEG, 95.6kB, 0:05 This download may be subject to copyright. Members blue2blue Posted August 22, 2005 Author Members Posted August 22, 2005 Yeah... you don't want to become famous some day as UNKNOWN ARTIST.
Members Ani Posted August 22, 2005 Members Posted August 22, 2005 Hey, Unknown Artist sounds like a REALLY good stage name; heck folks might even recognize the name as being popular on the web. I wonder how many results you'd get if you Googled "unknown artist" Um, wait a minute..... That means that I would be taking credit for the extremely BAD as well as the mediocre and the good if I were to adopt that as my pseudonym..... uh, I'd better not go there. Hahahahahah... here are the Google results... Web Results 1 - 10 of about 4,000,000 for unknown artist. (0.19 seconds)
