I don't watch much TV, but I've seen the Esteban guitar infomercials. Have you seen the new one where Esteban is doing a Geico Insurance comcercial? What a laugher! Only in America!

Yes, they also have one with that guy Tony Little on the Gazelle doing a Geico ad. Very funny that these guys are willing to make fun of themselves in such a way.:)

oh boy.

 

So by investing in infomercials you become a celeb that can leverge your "audience" and make big bucks pitching stuff in commercials.

 

OTOH- those Geico commercials are so goofy and un-corporate they're almost charming.

 

I just hope I dont have to see this five hundred times.

The GEICO commercial with Speed Racer is pretty funny. Also the one with the two wrestlers is good too.

I don't mind watching creative commercials, which are unfortunately not that many.

I liked the line from one of the wrestlers in the GEICO commercial where he's taunting the other wrestler: "You're so ugly, that if ugliness were bricks, you'd be the Great Wall Of China".

That's some clever advertising :D .

The speed racer commercial is even funnier if you pay special attention to Chim-Chim.

Yeah, they are some very clever commercials. The Speed Racer one is one of the best... Chim-Chim knods while Trixie delivers the "I just switched" punchline... and the expression on Speed's face right afterward is classic - it's like, "huh?!? They use that same "huh?" thing in the wrestler ad too.

 

The other commercials I really enjoy right now are the Vonage ads... people do stupid things - a kid throws a bat through a window (dad was stupid for playing ball with a seven year old in front of the sliding glass door too :rolleyes: ), photographer jumps up on a fountain to take a photo and falls in, a guy tries to ski jump over his truck by using a dinky berm built out of snow at the end of his roof as a ramp, only to eat it right into the side of the truck... and my favorite - the guy who chainsaws a 100' tree and thinks he's going to control the direction it's going to fall by pushing on the base as it starts to go... and of course, it falls right on his car. Classic stuff! :D

I think my favorites are "Tiny House" and the "Parker solution to hair loss" ones...

 

Pool guy: "The hair goes with me...even in the pool!"

 

Tennis guy: "I dunno, it seems like I'm always ace-ing the guy"

Yar, whoever the genius(es) is behind the Geico campaigns are, I hope they're getting paid handsomely. Those ads are definitely some of the most innovative and entertaining I've seen in a very long time. Good on them.

Still, it shows that people will watch, even enjoy, a TV commercial with enough creativity and entertainment value. Car insurance commercials have the potential to be deadly dull. Haven't yet seen the Esteban one yet. Can "Chef Tony", Victoria Principal, and Kevin Trudeau be far away?

 

(I sell paid programming...I've seen them all.)

 

The other commercials I've been loving are the series of Red Stripe Beer which run almost exclusively in sports. These feature a Jamaican wearing a formal morning suit with a Red Stipe sash. In my favorite, a dorky white guy stands next to him at a bar. There is reggae playing in the background. The Jamaican is dancing while holding a Red Stripe bottle. He hands the bottle to the white guy who starts shuffling to the beat. Jamaican: "Red Stripe and reggae...helping our white friends dance for over 70 years!"

It is funny,but I work in a bodyshop and they are some cheap

bastards when it come to fixing cars.They like putting a/m parts

on cars and it don't matter how new it is.

Geico got rid of me after my teenage daughter crashed 3 cars, two of them total losses in a period of 2 years. Can't say I blame them.

 

She is married now and no longer my problem. It is now over 3 years since those accidents and my car insurance with USAA has dropped 75% without her influence.

I can't believe that no-one has mentioned the caveman Gieco ad.

 

Oh YEAH! Those ARE good! "I'll have the roast duck with the mango salsa... and I don't have much of an appetite - thank you" (Glares at ad talking head). :D
