Any Vancouverites here?

Several people have informed me that "the west coast is the best coast", so I'm going to find out for myself.

 

A few questions before I embark on my journey:

 

1) I've heard numerous reports of a crappy music scene... but surely there must be SOMEWHERE to check out live music? Any ideas as to where?

 

2) Which are the best sushi joints?

 

3) Which "touristy" places are worth checking out?

 

4) Is there anything else I should know about Vancouver?

Try Papa Taco in the Effects Forum. He lives there.

 

Nice place, it but can be expensive to live there. I used to live in Seattle, and would go up to BC occasionally. Vancouver is a lot more scenic in some ways.

 

Gastown is pretty wild! Bars, restaurants, and music. Also hookers and drugs right out in the open (and tolerated by the cops) in some areas.

 

The Music scene? ...Well, 10 years ago, it was nothing to write home about.Sort of pedestrian at that time, and I doubt if it's changed.

 

Stanley Park is fun if you like the outdoors.

 

Also a HUGE Chinatown......which can be a ton o'fun!
