Members joel Oporto Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 Hi guys, congrats and good luck to Craig on the transfer of SSS!!This is a bit off the usual order of business but I just wanted to ask where you guys go in search of older hard to find songs or composers. I was trying to search for a song entitled "When First we were Lovers" by a late 80's or early 90's band called PM (this was way before PM Dawn) and I believe the composer is a Peter Myer or Mayer. After a week, I couldn't find anything on him or this band at all. This is the guy who composed "Moonlight over paris" covered by Vanessa Williams which was a hit song. Even her sites did not acknowledge the composer, is that how it is nowadays, Artists just take the credit and leave the composers to the gloom and doom of ignominity!! More power again to Craig, I came from the EQ forum and haven't been in for a while only to find he moved.

I keep getting a different peter Mayer I first entered Vanessa williams+ songtitel + lyrics,.... then I got the credits,... song is written by three people.... Then I entered those three people and boommmmm all the sites you needed showed up. If you search try to limit your results by doing it like that. Typing in Vanessa will give you 1000000000000s of sites Typing in Vaness Williams Moonlight over Paris Lyrics will give you a lot less results. Oah and by the way,.......dang I hate to say it onhere,.I used MSN search,..... {censored} now I get beaten by all the others
Members joel Oporto Posted August 29, 2005 Author Members Posted August 29, 2005 Don't worry if it works what the heck, If you have a hit song using a 4 track tape recorder doesn't mean you're just lucky, means your not afraid to use "off the beaten path" or in this case the detested one. hehehe
Members AudioMaverick Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 Google works in an odd way, sometimes. I wonder if it came up with a Kevin Bacon link...
Members blue2blue Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 Heh... I thought we were talking Hoagie Carmichael and Cole Porter... Granted, the 80s seems like a long, long time ago. And, frankly, so much of the music from that era seems so much more dated than classic tracks by Billie Holiday or Louis Armstrong... The Romantics, anyone? How about Tommy Tutone? Stacy Q? __________ PS... for information on bands, probably the single best source is All Music Guide. [ www.allmusic.com ] It has a huge range of artists from a wide variety of periods. And they allow user input, too, making them a little wiki-like, in their ability to adapt to new information.

But if you really want to know who made the song, you had to be at Greenstreet with Rod Hui, Hank and Bill..... -Peace, Love, and Brittanylips
