When Pointy Guitars Make Their Huge Comeback....

We all know pointy guitars from BC Rich, Kramer, Hamer, etc... are coming back in a big way and will probably shoot up in value pretty soon.

When that happens and we witness the rebirth of Hair Metal and Crossdressing will the big rig come back as well.

Those of us who remember, back in the bad old days, a guitarist was measured by how many people it took to move his rig into a practice space. Will the days of "He only has an 8 space rack" come back with the pointy guitar?

Will Digitech GSP-21s, Twin Tubes and ADA MP-1s become "vintage"?

Will guitarists want a Zebra covered Randall cab instead of an old Bassman??

Is tomorow's "Holy Grail" in this guy's closet next to his kitty porn???

It's already starting to happen. The $1000.00 Kramer that was $350.00 is now creaping up to $500.00.

I don't think this will cause Strats and Teles to fall in price (as they rose steadily through the 80's and 90's). I think the metal axes are going to rise. And just like stompboxes rose, it makes sense the processors will rise as well.

Somebod may need that KK Downing patch just like some guy now needs a FuzzFace.

yeah, that has already been happening with much of the stuff mentioned...mp-1s, B.C. Rich asassians, charvel model 3s, ect.ect.ect. A handful of years ago, you could hardly give mp-1s away and now folks snatch 'em off the 'bay any chance they can.

:D

I am not selling one, I have one and am looking for 3 more to have 4.

I am going to have a 20 space rack with a Palmer Speaker Sim, 2 Yamaha SPX-90s (stereo rig) an ADA MP-1, Eventide H-3000, TC Electronics Chorus, Roland Dimension D, Effectron Digital Delay, Digitech GSP 21 Legend, Art X5, ADA MP-1 2 HH Poweramps and a Bradshaw switching system to hook everything together.

Then I'm going to burn all of my guitars and bring out my old BC Rich Eagle.

I don't think Glam metal will be back.

It's the Power Metal and Prog Metal scenes that is starting to get noticed.

Already big in Europe.

Finally starting to get recognized here in the States.

And with the power metal scene are the

Jacksons

ESPs

Caparisons

Carvins

and other Super Strats.

As well as the pointy V and Explorer type guitars.

Bands like:

Symphony X

Blind Guardian

Vanden Plas

Brainstorm

Masterplan

Sonata Artica

Nightwish

Children of Bodom

Magnitude 9

Sun Caged

And many more are inspiring young guitarist to want to play again. To actually learn technique, skill, scales, and theory.

AND PLAY SOLOS AGAIN!!

They are far from the glam metal bands of LA.

The pay more homage to

Iron Maiden

70's Scorpions

Dio

Black Sabbath

Yngwie

Judas Priest

And many more of the Barbarian Horde of Classic Heavy Metal Rockers.

Along with it are

Rows of Marshall Stacks.

Racks of Rocktron, TC Electronics, Lexicon, Eventide.

Powerful Vocals.

Mammoth drum kits.

And all the black one can possibly own.

HEAVY METAL is back.

So we salute you!

Come on, who's with me! Let's hit flea bay and scarf up all that cool 80's gear. I'm going to check my records and figure out what kind of rig I was using back then (although I think the above is probably fairly typical).

Let's bring Big Rack Stereo Guitar Rigs back. Even the word 'Rig' isn't used anymore. In the 80's we used it becasue you needed a Big Rig just to move the guitarists gear.

Bret ain't glam rock anymore.

He sold his fast cars and bought a pickup truck and a cowboy hat.

You can now see him on the Country Music Channel.

That's where your '80s glam rock went.

Modern Country.

Shania Twain is nothing but Def Leppard with slide guitar in it.

Well, if all the "choice" Kramers become sought after, I'll trade you this for your 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard.

Come on GG, you know you want it.:D

You're in Kansas where the 80's never died.

My Gibsons will still be worth money. I will add a Floyd, put some screamin demons in and scallop the fretboard.

Maybe I'll get Ed Roman to saw them up and make me a '59 Double Neck.

Lots of Metal Guys used LPs. Slash (hair metal queen), Lizzie Bordon, Keel, etc...

I already went thru my phase of buying up tons of old 80s Ibanez pedals, so I guess racks are the next logical step!

I already have a Peavey Rockmaster tube pre, and 2 Ibanez Delay racks with 5 button footswitch. Also in the back of the closet gathering dust in an 8 rack SKB case is a Randall HT100 head, an ART SGXT2 effects unit, an Alesis reverb, an Ibanez SGR1000 Digital Reverb and a JuiceGoose rack power strip.

First thing I need to look for is one of those rack towers with wheels. Yeah!

I hope it picks up quick, I'm trying to sell some of my '80s stuff to buy a GMP (among other things).

DM1100, single delay unit, and the other one is the DMD2000 Delay with FC10 Footswitch.

So it's got basically 8 or 10 memory patches. So you can save your favorite delays, and them access then via the 5 button pedal board. Very nice analog sounding delay on both those racks.

The pedal board is one with the Ts9 series style switches on em.
