Members toneprophet
I came accross a Hohner Les Paul copy for cheap. I am amazed! The tone of the Hohner blows away my $3,200 PRS. I am thinking of getting rid of the PRS. Any recommendations for replacement pickups?

Members MetalHeadd
I didn't get along well at all with the stock pickups in my custom 24, but when I replaced them with a seymour duncan JB/Jazz set, the guitar came to life. I get so many compliments on the tone coming out of it now.

Members _pete_
It depends a lot on the guitar itself. I've had two CE24's. Both had the HFS/VB pickups. The HFS sounded like ass in one of them but sounded great in the other. PRS guitars kick ass. I never played one I didn't like.
Members GRANKOR
All PRS guitars suck. They are all simple eye-candy... you obviously never played one then. An old pic of me and my much missed Custom 24, I wish I'd never sold it...

There's one for the "Dumbest thing someone ever told you about guitars" thread.Seriously, that is a really {censored}ing stupid thing to say.As for being eye candy, you betcha! Members GarysBlues
I agree. I see nothing wrong with the stock set. I'm not a great big fan of 24 frets. So I sold mine. But it was a nice playing/sounding/looking. I might pick-up a McCarthy.

Members BillyCorgan
I love the HFS and Vintage Bass. I just never cared for the Dragon II set. Try a Duncan in the bridge. You won't sell the guitar if you do.
Members Wyatt
I hated the HFS and VB in my old CE24. But, I always felt it was because they didn't pair up well with my amp. The PRS PU's are wound to drive a hotter amp than all my vintage pieces, they don't pair up well with lower-gain Supros, Tweeds Deluxes, or Plexi's. Members DeathMonkey
I liked the PRS pickups in my Custom 24s until I put PRS pickups in a couple of Schecters. Now I'm looking at dropping in some Bareknuckles, Nailbombs perhaps. I can't stand Duncans anymore, I don't know why.
Members Heinz W
I've always thought Gibson pups sounded better than PRS'. They are indeed very well made instruments, I just feel Gibson's have better tone. YMMV.

It wasn't a good match The Duncan JB just matches that guitar so well.
Members Jake7
For me, the stock vintage bass/HFS in my CE and the stock bass/chainsaw in my custom 24 do everything I want/need in a pickup......I wouldn't change 'em for anything. There comes a point when you just have to {censored}in' play your guitar instead of worrying that the pickups aint cutting it!
