fret file

I bought a cheap E-Bay one and it works, although I can't do anything other than jumbo and medium frets with it.

Its not really rocket science or anything, but I am pretty sure that the Stew Mac ones are considerably nicer. I just don't do enough fret jobs to justify spending the money on the whole lot of tools to do a real pro level job.

I use this one.

Admittedly, it's expensive, but it's so easy to use and does such a great job. No chatter marks, works fast, really nice. :thu:

Honestly, it's really a get what you pay for kind of situation. The expensive diamond files work great, the cheaper toothed files still work but have more trade offs as far as being harder to work, chatter marks, clogging, etc.
