Members sharnrock Posted November 27, 2009 Members Posted November 27, 2009 Should I suggest playing a slow night like a Tuesday or something?
Members LAPennell Posted November 27, 2009 Members Posted November 27, 2009 Where in S.FL are you? I've done this for both myself and my band, we usually talk to the manager before and do an "audition" at an open mic. It usually works out well to do it that way. You play a few songs and they decide if they want you back.
Members RickGoetz Posted November 27, 2009 Members Posted November 27, 2009 Have any friends in bands that draw well who could put you on as an opener? That has worked well in my experience...
Members sharnrock Posted November 28, 2009 Author Members Posted November 28, 2009 good ideas. I live in Stuart, FL. About 1/2 an hour north of west palm.
Members conquertoascend Posted December 21, 2009 Members Posted December 21, 2009 be straight up with the promoter. tell them you haven't got much gigging experience, but that you have 20 friends that are very thirsty. this worked for my band. we had our first real gig last night (the first two were house parties), spammed the hell out of it on facebook and myspace, got the headlining spot at a sweet club, drew 40 people, and made 200 bucks.
