My only point of mentioning John Legend was in comaring his simple and plainspoken performance to the overblown, complicated beyond recognition performance by both Herbie and Christina. Thats why Legend won himself a handful of Grammy's. I am not a John Legend fan and I only know that one song which I hadn't even heard before Grammy night, don't care for Mary J. Blige and never even heard of Jamie Cullins. Sing the damn song already. Don't rewrite it. It's called an "interpretation" not a vocal drive by. Like it or not her mic technique has been developed over thousands of shows and sessions. I've seen her blow a mic out from 6 feet, and if your in the room during one of those notes your ears actually compress.
