Members sixstring-LYM Posted October 22, 2009 Members Posted October 22, 2009 Has anyone ever used or tried a Google Ad Campaign to gain traffic to their website in an effort to sell CD's or buy your tunes? I ask because I have thought about doing this for my band. I know that Adwords definitely brings traffic, but just not sure how qualified the traffic would be for resulting in sales.

I don't really see any way to do it for one unknown band's CDs or merch. You will just get a ton of clicks, pay a bunch of money, and end up with nothing. I would look into SEO and getting links from similar artists if you want more web traffic and better google ratings (also having your website in your sig at popular forums helps with google for seo - which you have done). An ad on an established website with visitors that "fit" your music may work too depending on how smart you are about it, but you are likely throwing your money away on that too. Is launchyourmusic.com yours?

Very good points. You would probably end up just like you said. Paying for a bunch of clicks, but no buys. Yeah. LYM is mine. Putting final touches on functionality and then start a pretty big marketing campaign. Also finalizing a package of free stuff/services for Bands.

I also agree that you should start with SEO. Are you building the site yourself or do you havean understanding on HTML? If you do there is a lot you can do yourself. I'm in a similar situation with my new company. We've started using SEO techniques and we've found our traffic is already rising. It's a good start before going into a big marketing push. People have to find you.
Members Orlando5 Posted October 26, 2009 Members Posted October 26, 2009 You definitely will get lots of traffic but research how Adwords operates and how to get the most bang for your buck (there are many helpful articles and fee ebooks all over the Web for this info). Also, look into Yahoo and MSN ads their cheaper and may give you better results while being much more inexpensive. Good luck!
