Hey folks....

Been reading these posts for a long time now, and posting stuff myself every so often....

So I figured it would be ok to tell you guys about the great news my band has received...

The first track of our newest album is going to be the iTunes Single of the Week for June 9th-15th. My band is called The Ruse- The song is called "Beautiful is Gone", and if you're interested you can hear it here:

Its pretty great- They slap the song right onto the homepage of iTunes for the week and its available for free download. We've been doing some massive lead-up promo for this since we got the word, so hopefully it will make a blip.

We're one of very few unsigned bands that has received this honor, so needless to say we're stoked!

Congrats. It's a great song and you deserve it. Out of curiosity, do they just pick you out of the blue? How does it work exactly? :snax:

Wow, nicely done.

Just out of curiosity, what was the budget for your CD?

If you don't mind, I'm sure it would give a lot of people here an idea of what to shoot for. I for one would love to know how much it costs to get that level of production.

But well done. Your website was killer also. Good for you.....

Thanks for checking it out man....

We self financed the disc through the four band members- I'd rather not say the total. Our good friend Jorge Vivo did all the production, mixing and mastering all by himself. He rules. It was a blessing for us to find him, cause of the multiple talents he brings.

I will say this- We recorded our first 2 albums by ourselves in our apt., with our drummer producing. Those ended up being about 5K each start to finish, with the money spent on pro-mixing and mastering (and CD duplication). I feel like you can do some great stuff for that amount of money. It doesn't get you to the fully "pro" sound, but it gets really close.

I deleted the other posts in this thread earlier cause I ended up feeling like I may have posted "spam", and was feeling HC remorse :)

But ah well, still proud...
