I would like to collaborate with other musicians over the internet.

I am a singer and would like to create music with someone else by sending files back and forth.

What are some of the ways that I could find people to collaborate with over the internet?

Hi ethan,

I would like to suggest u a place, actually it's a community of music people hoping to make it a little less disposable. It's a blog mostly of musical analysis, editorials, and commentary with a humorous tilt. Hope u find this one good...

There are plenty. If you are looking for sites that don't involve money, check out:

- ccmixter.org

I am a co-founder of www.minimumnoise.com where there is money involved (i.e. you can buy and sell "music production" of various kinds).

I haven't tried it yet, but the new version of Ableton Live supposedly has nice collaboration features as well - perhaps they are building a community too..

Cheers!

There are a couple other sites that have online collaboration not yet mentioned that MusicNomad has researched. We have met with several people at Indaba Music and they seem to pretty legit and growing.

www.indabamusic.com which has been around a while..This is what they say...Indaba Music is a place for musicians to find one another, create and remix music, and showcase their work. Record with Indaba's online session console, find musicians around the world, and blog about your new creations.

www.ejamming.com which is new and in beta...."eJamming is a collaborative network of thousands of musicians creating and performing together online in real time" not sure if others have heard how the beta is going??

where musicians go to find a home...www.musicnomad.com
