Members ToneGrail Posted February 23, 2009 Members Posted February 23, 2009 My band just received a contract to play a very large outdoor amphitheater. There is a clause in the contract that states that we must present a certificate of insurance. What the hell is that all about? I don't even know what kind of insurance they mean. Gig insurance? Liability insurance in case I accidentally blow somebody's eardrums out? Has anyone ever dealt with this before?
Members MartinC Posted February 23, 2009 Members Posted February 23, 2009 http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2007200 This issue created a huge argument between my agent and me last year. I haven't bought it yet, but I know it's going to come up again this year. See Gtrbass' reply-he's got the right idea.
Members pdiddy Posted February 24, 2009 Members Posted February 24, 2009 When your speaker stack falls over and injures someone in the audience. That's what its all about...
Members rock4522 Posted February 27, 2009 Members Posted February 27, 2009 Yeah I had to deal with this a few times as well, there could be allot of accidents on a stage including fire, lights falling....................
Members boxorox Posted February 28, 2009 Members Posted February 28, 2009 This has been coming up a lot lately. If the band has a complex set up, Lots'a lights, flyware, speaker towers, pyro technics, maybe I can see it. But it really just sounds like the promoter playing cheap and covering his ass. Our contract includes a paragraph that holds the promoter responsible for the safety and security of the band, instruments, equipment etc. If anyone expects us to carry liability insurance over and above, our price just went up.
