Music Uni Abroad?

Hey, i'm currently a student at a college in rainy old england, doing a BTEC national diploma in music performance and technology.. this is all well and good, but i'd like to followup with uni. I've looked at some uni's and audio engineering schools in the UK, but I don't feel like i'm "aiming high enough", and would really light to migrate and do a course elsewhere. My first thought was America.. "The land of oppurtunity"... well. The music industry is much bigger in the USA than in england (Correct,no?), and there's a {censored} load more studio's, and a lot more successful bands emerge from the states than England.

Anyway, onto the point of this topic. Basically, i would like to continue my studies in the USA, as from a couple of past holidays, i loved it - the weather, the people all seem much friendlier than the UK on the whole, and for the sake of uni life that is oh so much better than in the UK. I'm not entirely sure what i'd like to study yet, out of two fields - both related to music: Either an audio engineer (be it live or studio), or music performance/theory etc. Being the knowledgeable community i know HC is, i was wondering if you guys could maybe recommend some Uni's that have decent courses in any of these fields in the USA, so i could maybe write a few letters. So far i've found out that a lot of universities offer scholarships to oversea's students, though the uni's i've looked at have all been a lot more formally/classically based - example, "If you don't play a brass band instrument or such, do one...".

Any input is appriciated.
