Members scolfax
I'm probably going to buy the cheapest pedal I can find that can help me play Born on the Bayou with a passable sound. So tell me, am I looking for a tremolo or vibrato effect?

Members scolfax
Thanks for the responses. Looks like Fogherty uses or has used:- Voodoo Lab Tremolo- Fulltone Supa Tremolo- Zeta Tremolo/vibrato pedal (Dubbed the Swamp Box)(JF rig information) Leaning towards a tremolo, but would like a little more confirmation! Members GCDEF
Definitely a trem. Original was mostly likely a Fender amp, but any trem pedal will get you really close.

Members Help!I'maRock!
interesting question. tremolo is modulation of volume. vibrato is modulation of pitch. Leo Fender mixed these two concepts up. he called the bar that varies the pitch on the Stratocaster a tremolo, and he called the circuit that modulates the volume on his amps a vibrato circuit. so depending on the nomenclature you're used to, you could be looking for the opposite thing. that said, you're looking for a tremolo pedal. i suggest either the Fulltone Supa-Trem or Catalinbread Valcorder. Members unworthy
OP said "cheapest pedal"; that rules out the Fulltone. In fact, you can spend $400 on a really good Tremolo. The Dano is probably the cheapest, but for just a little more the Rocktron Pulse is all metal and sounds fine, to me. D

Members Burningleaves
Just grabbed one off eBay for $20 shipped! Good deal. I paid about that for my Tuna. Those little Dano pedals have some standouts. Buying them used is the key. I get some decent "swampyness" with the Tuna. It's a nice little trem pedal. I even "coped" the trem sound from King of the Hill with it. My "standard" house rig is a little GA-5 gibson amp-Tuna Melt and the BLT Echo for a touch of slap'. A fun little rig.
