If you could give some input on my approach, i'd appreciate it

hey all,

 

i'm sure this is going to reak of spam to you guys, but it's not really the case. i've logged many hours here in HC and i've got quite a few posts under my belt, so i hope that dispells some of the spamminess. (see one of my older threads up top as a sticky.)

 

I'm posting this because i'd like your feedback on my marketing approach through my website. I recently started working with a VERY good company and developing a following exclusively through the internet (mainly because of geographical reasons) and I have gotten some very good input from this board in the past. (SOme comments have been of the bitter bottom-feeder variety, but i guess that's to be expected in an internet forum, right? )

 

I'm open to suggestions and i'd like to hear what you have to say; especially those guys with years of experience as independent artists like bluestrat and a few others.

 

I'm eager to hear what you all think.

hmmm..your website...too much space surrendered to Century Music Group...too many bad pictures of you...too much material in too little space...where's the real marketing?

It did come off a little busy -- a whole bunch of little frames kind of mad things feel...fractured maybe. and since they all kind of dealt with similar stuff , it sort of took attention away from what the core was and why there are these subdivisions

 

I was even confused at first that "the year in pictures" was a photog presentation

(the frame titels get sort of overwhelmed by the content and there is similar looking content in each frame)

 

the collective/cooperative think didn't seem that clear to me, BUT this may be due to looking at the direct link as opposed to going through the century music site to give me context...so from the user perspective I felt "I got dropped onto Gschmitt's site that had some kind of connection to century music"

 

[eh, hope that doesn't come off as overly negative...just wearing the editor's hat and trying to give ya a good critical read on it. sides it's just my impression, it ain't cap "T" truth]

wow...excellent feedback. thank you for it. i'm going to take a LONG time considering what you said and try and come up with some 'solutions' to what seem like very real and reasonable crits.
