Members fralax Posted December 13, 2008 Members Posted December 13, 2008 No wonder the music biz is in the toilet with idiots like this guy in charge! http://www.crazedhits.com/interview-jimmy-iovine/
Members JohnCub Posted December 13, 2008 Members Posted December 13, 2008 I'm over 6 minutes into the interview. I find no evidence of him being stoned or in any other way problematic. Unless something changes in the remaining time of the interview, I think this link was posted as a method of saying, "look at my site! I needz your traffic!" I think it is a good interview. I think he states some important points. But the way it was presented here, "Hey this guy is stoned and messing us all up! come look!" was just a way to drive traffic. conjecture.
Members BlueStrat Posted December 13, 2008 Members Posted December 13, 2008 I thought his comments at about 10:25 to 11:50 were dead on. And I didn't see anyone "totally stoned" Trust me, I know what 'totally stoned' looks like!
Members Watch_me_move Posted December 13, 2008 Members Posted December 13, 2008 Stoned?? He looked coherent to me and was quite insightful in this interview. He was definitely on-point!!
Members SBF3000 Posted December 13, 2008 Members Posted December 13, 2008 He is SO high on marijuana cigarettes...

Members Bensbeenjamin Posted December 16, 2008 Members Posted December 16, 2008 Yeah the way I read it, it sounded like he had his stuff together. And if you wanna talk about totally stoned just look at Joe Walsh playing live lol.
Members CLOCK13 Posted December 16, 2008 Members Posted December 16, 2008 Jimmy Iovine reminds me of people who post on this forum. He has alot of good ideas but does not know what the future of this business will be.
Members nwtsnma Posted December 16, 2008 Members Posted December 16, 2008 the music biz is in the toilet because it no longer has anything to sell.
Members nwtsnma Posted December 16, 2008 Members Posted December 16, 2008 Jimmy Iovine reminds me of people who post on this forum. He has alot of good ideas but does not know what the future of this business will be. it has none. apart from live performance, paypal links on artist websites and licensing tie ins, the commercial music era is over.

I'm not so sure. It may seem that way because so many people are in it who are not making a dime but that is a fairly recent phenomenon. It has only been in the past 15 years that everyone and their dog has been able to make and distribute CDs/mp3s. But the top of the heap is still making money as they always have.
