Members RJpilot
For the price I would go for a WARMOTH with the same specs. Thats what I intend to do. Eventually. You could get everything exactly how you want it for the price of a stock Charvel or one of those RI Kramer pacers/berettas.

Members Axeslinger
This is the last Warmoth I built I had considerably more in that instrument than I paid for my Charvel.. Not including my time. The fret work was atrocious on that neck coming from Warmoth. It was the worst I've ever seen on any neck or guitar. The work I did on my Charvel fretboard was extremely minor compared to what I had to do on the Warmoth fretboard... I had good luck with the Muzikraft neck I used on this build a while back The neck I got from them required minimal additional work to it. And iirc it was considerably cheaper than Warmoth too. USA Custom Guitars is another place to consider for necks.. Warmoth has gone up on prices. You be hard pressed to build a duplicate to my CAR Charvel for $800 imo
Members Beckman
I would go with this one: I like the shape. I like the Charvel, but they look cheap to me for some reason. The ones that are stained look better, but cost $$$.
Members Axeslinger
The Blue Pacer Imperials look really nice.. I'm just not big on the 10" fretboard radius;)

Members Mesa/Kramer
Skip the baretta and go with one of these limited edition Pacer Imerial re-issues. $1,199 http://www.musicyo.com/product_specs.asp?pf_id=1329
Members Mesa/Kramer
Actually, you should look for a used Kramer Stagemaster. This was the top of the line guitar they made. You should be able to get one used for under $1,000 Neck thru Body, real Floyd, Duncans. Here's mine.
