I'm not talking about using these preamp impulses instead of the Real Gear and getting the same results. I've owned and Used a Vintech Dual72 (Neve 1272 Copy), and a Great River NV (Moddified Neve 1073 of sorts). And I know what they sound like. I'm NOT saying that you can track a source with a Presonis Blue Tube and make it sound like you tracked it with a Neve Board. A signal was sent through a Neve Board at a Bunch of different settings. Then that Post Signal was Recorded and saved as an Impulse. You then input that Impulse into your Impulse Response Program of Choice(Like SIR). So all the Impulse really does,...is add that "Charactor" of the EQ that the Neve imparts on the source,...Onto the Track. So it's kinda like an EQ of sorts. That is the LEAST important part of the Difference between a Presonis Blue Tube, and a Neve, SSL, API(Or any other Expensive pre),...etc,.... But it still can be an interesting tool. To add some flavor on certain tracks. Does that make more sense to you?

Just scroll down to Preamps if that's what you're looking for. I might even be able to do you one better too. I will try and get a couple comparison Clips posted. To show how these Comp/Pre Impulses sound.

Maybe you didn't understand my original post? Let me know, and I'll clarify. 2.) There are some pretty nice plug-ins out there. And I'm not talking about "Free" ones. Which ones have you tried? And what kind of "Real" gear do you have that is so much better? I hope this doesn't sound like I'm being a prick. I'm really curious.
  5. What's up guys? I know alot of people know about Impulse Modeling for Reverb. I really like SIR for that. But what about Impulses from other pieces of Equipment like Mic Preamps and Compressors? I downloaded a bunch of impulses like this to test out. And they seam to be a pretty damn Neat Tool! I had a Bus of a Double Tracked Rock Guitar riff. Mic'ed with a Senn 421, and an Audio buddy used as a pre. I pulled up SIR as a Track Insert Plug in Cubase SX3. Then set the Impulse to a Neve Mic Pre at +9. Turned off the Dry Signal, and just used 100% Wet. It sounded pretty Neve-ish to me. Although my only experience with the "Neve" sound was a Great River 1NV I owned for a year or so. I know this won't make an Audio Buddy sound like a Neve or API Board. It won't pick up other things that a great pre will. But I've found it to be a great way to add some flavor. I'm excited about trying out some other Impulses I've downloaded. Like an LA2A Comp, API, Calrec, & SSL preamps. Anyone else try this?
