  1. AcousticMusic.org has a shop in Guilford and usually has a couple of Collings among some other really beautiful instruments Brian always has a metric boatload of awesome acoustics. Bought my Borgeois there, and my Larrivee back when it was just George's place. Back when Junior's was still in Clinton, we had a better selection of instruments in a 10 mile radius than NYC, if you excluded Staten Island.
  2. Yummy! Had a chance to play one of the originals once. Didn't play so hot, but the sound and the look.
  3. Thankfully it wasn't due to an intestinal problem.
  4. Back in the day, Gibson signature guitars were given to only "deserving" musicians. Les Paul, Johnny Smith, Howard Roberts. And Trini Lopez.
  5. Between the veneer tops and "lawyer bursts" out there I went with a plain ebony Standard. Neil Young, Jeff Beck (I know, oxblood) and Johnny Hickman can't be wrong. I went flametop for the Gretsch.
  6. the blue one went because ... Well ... ... because I was stupid and figured I needed something more flexible and 'modern' for the '80s. Yep, I was the dumbass who sold a 1964 piggyback AC30 and bought a Peavey Deuce. Pillory me commencing ... now. I did the same thing with a '57 tweed deluxe. I got a Dean Markley CD-40. A friend still has the CD-40. I played it a few months ago. The clean channel isn't so bad, and the interior build is pretty decent. I now own two tweed deluxe clones. And no channel switching amps.
  7. It is, like virtually every PW product I've owned, a brilliant idea, painfully cheesily executed. If they had spent another $0.25 on the case, I'd be standing from the rooftops proclaiming it's brilliance. But no, it's a cheap toy.
  8. I should have got a DeltaLabs Digital Delay for $19, but no...I was too lazy to go there. The manager at my GC tried to override the system to give to it to me at that price today and it wouldn't let him... I got one. If you need a cheap delay, it was a good deal, but it's fairly cold and clinical.
  9. That's like choosing one of three foods for the rest of your life. I could probably live with two, but not just one.

I don't really care one way or another. Every steel string acoustic I've ever wanted to own has had pins, but that could easily have been coincidence or tradition of the builders I like.
  11. The red rubber washer from a Grolsch bottle works. Inexpensive, and you get to drink the beer, too. Or a similar washer obtained from the hardware store. Which isn't nearly as fun.
