  1. anyone else have any comments about the sound?
  2. right click this and click 'Save As..." http://www.bebopstudios.net/downloads/CE%20Guitar%20Tone.mp3 I wasn't initially sure about the 57 because when we have done some clean recently (run through our peavey amp) it hasn't turned out quite as nice. I see now that it wasn't because of the 57, but probably because we were running it through a 6506 which doesn't even have a dedicated clean channel. About the mix: the guitarist insisted on using his delay pedal, i'm not sure it belongs in all parts, but it works. There are no effects on the guitar mix yet. It's mostly a 57 right on the speaker and we used a very small amount of a ksm pulled back a couple feet. The tubes in this amp (which is older than me, mid 80s) have NEVER BEEN CHANGED, but all in all we were pretty happy with it. Stand up bass is yet to come. See what you think! THANKS!
  3. Sweet, we'll definitely stick with the 57 then I'm sure. We may also experiment with the KSM. I'll try to post the results. Thanks a lot everyone, this forum has been a huge help to us for a long time, and clearly still is!
  4. We're used to recording heavy/punk guitar tones which we normally just run through our 6505 with a single 57 right on it. Sounds great, but this band has a very talented guitarist who plays with very little gain with a sort of bluesy style through an ancient tube fender head. I have a feeling sticking a 57 up to the speaker will sound a bit dull/dead compared to what he needs, I want this guitar tone to jump out and grab people. We have 1 SM57, 2 SM58, 1 KSM27, 2 SM81s----1 Great River (single channel) and an 8 channel nice sounding mackie preamp/converter. Any thoughts on how to get a nice lively guitar tone? Thanks

I'll provide info on the recording for anyone interested. I thought this was pretty well done. I can't get completely get behind the drums but they cut well and that's really important. Vocals sounded really, really good IMO. Guitars sounded good too. Again, well done. What kind of setup did you use for the drums. What kind of kit, snare, cymbals, overheads, mics/positions, room, etc. did you use?
  6. bball_1523 i like the guitars sound pretty well, but i'm a drummer not a guitarist.. the drums just sounded clrealy fake to me so that kind of annoyed me i guess, but overall as far as mixing it sound pretty good except i would turn the guitars down a good bit.
  7. Ok... Me and my bro just finished our first project ever... we're pretty enthused about it. We know the guitars are pretty bad, and not loud enough among a few other things, but we'd love to hear what you have to say about it. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pag...m?bandID=388158 p.s. I have 56k. Not by choice, I simply don't have the option in southern west virginia. and by 56k i really mean about 30k. I only downloaded one song because the last few all seem to be streaming media instead of downloadable mp3s. sorry.. and i hope you all understand. thanks!!
