  1. i would rock that, sweet rig. merry christmas to all who come by and read this
  2. i'm here... not so much pedal talk anymore and i only buy a pedal once a year or so and not like i used to
  3. this kind of guitar is on sale for less than 300 dollars very often.... ten years ago or even more i wanted my 335 on the cheap and the dot was the only lefty available and a local store had one to try. the build quality was really bad, not only cheap but bad, lots of stinging edges, sucky pickups, sucky mechanics, it was not really fun to play at all aso... it was really a bad, cheap guitar which turned me away from getting a cheap es type guitar. i'm not saying you need to buy a over 2,5k gibson instead, but the standard epi dot is one of the worst guitars i ever had in hand, i would not buy it new, nor used, with maybe some major neck issues...
  4. as of period of time i meant the norlin era as freeman said, which was somewhere beginning 70s to mid 80s. but haven't meant that they are all bad. they just hit or miss, some guitar might be great, the next might be garbage myself i have a lespaul from that time, i love it, its heavy as hell, but that was the wood they used at the time, still i love this heavy beast... whats more important is, that you actually play it, if you play it and it sounds great to you, feels good to play and does not have any visible damage its a great guitar for you... it does not help getting thousands of internet opinions on the best guitar in the world if you don't like everyone elses number one... it must be your number one, and you will not know it before you have played it
  5. gibson is a great brand. like every guitar you buy, you should play it before you buy it yep for gibson you pay a share for the name, but you also do for a real martin as of quality, new instruments seem to have fairly high quality, but still there could be a lemon. if you look at the used market, there are periods where gibson production quality was hit and miss.... no matter what, to be on the save side you have to play it yourself and build your own first hand experience if you like it and the price is ok to you, hit it
  6. Hey man, thanks a lot for taking the time to help me out. The snare is slightly to the left. I wanted it that way to achieve at least a little bit of spread since the guitar and bass is mainly centered. The right-sidedness of the guitar is a result of slightly different EQing the one live take track. So it might be psycho-acoustically. I reworked the kick and snare eversince I posted the link. I ended up finding a trick for the snare to sound how I wanted it and also improved on the kick. I sent the EQ to an aux channel, down pitched it and put a fully wet reverb on it. Blended in, it added that down-tuned, almost woordrim sound I aimed for. Here's the link to the current, almost final version of it, this time even with vocals http://soundcloud.com/we-are-rodha/bliss-voc-v2/s-WMCak Thanks again! i had the impression with the first version that the guitars overall too loud, but didn't post anything. now with the vocals i feel this even stronger. unless you want the vox in the back... and can't predict how it will come out when its mastered, if the vox will be after the compression much more in the front as they are now. i think the "clean" guitar is even more "louder". i would turn overall the guitar(s) a bit down, the clean part a bit more. it will still be very heavy, especially if you turn the volume up while listening, but it will not bury everything behind the guitars when the guitars are lowered it could also become necessary to lower the bass as well... just my thoughts, from another noob
