Mannn.... I finally had something sour enough worth blogging about, and was actually looking at venting! Nutz!

I saw the SMV show last year. Stanley, Marcus, and Victor, all on one stage! Wank fest? Yes. Great? Hell yeah! Every-day music? Not at all. All three had periods where their playing showed incredible musical feel and soul. And all three had periods where they were just trying to out-wank the guy next to them. At times, it really did seem like you were in a recital or workshop listening to nothing but blazing technique. All in all I was incredibly impressed, with both their instrumental skills, and their musical soulfulness. However, I will fully agree I like them better in bands. The exception maybe being listening to Marcus on "Tales".

Many bassist also play cello. It may be worth also asking over in their forum. Just a thought.

What amazes me is that these are people famous only because they are great at playing with non-reality. So, I'm supposed to take the world of somebody who's greatest achievement is being able to play make-believe, and value it? Hmmm...

How long would it take me to read this thread, from beginning to end? Let's see... Right now there are 13,284 posts on 665 pages, for an average of 19.98 post per page. Say 5 minutes a page, long term average. That's 5 x 665 = 3325 minutes to read to this point. Or 55.4 hours. Whew! Quite a bunch of verbose critters saying nothing, aren't we?
