  1. Nils Lofgren in E street band.that's probably a good call. While I do like Bruce, Nils certainly has a "governor" on his capabilities when playing in that band.
  2. How? Honestly, page is the worst musician in zep. Granted he write most of the stuff, but bonham and jpj are both exceptional. Page is just pagehe was pretty good at times in his day. I just don't care much for Zep. See how this works?
  3. Chicken Foot, omg Stach, what the {censored} are doing???Satch wears panties.
  4. I'll start with Neil Schoen in Journey.that's a pretty good one. Years ago I would have said Zep.

  6. I don't think the arena players are really pumping that much sound through their stacks - they would be killing people down in the front rows. The "wall of sound" is mostly a bunch of fake cabs for show. Most of the volume comes from the PA. So when you think about it, what's the point of an amp that is loud enough to melt the shell off a nuclear reactor? Can't really use it? now. But I believe the OP was referring to "then".
  7. I've just recently changed my Stratocaster's strings gauge from .9 to .10 because I felt like I wanted a thicker sounding. .9 was a bit too soft sounding and too thin for me. However, I found now the strings tension is extremely tight that it makes bending VERY difficult. Now very often I tend to bend out of tune (a semi tone lower) even when I try to bend really hard with the right posture. And it result in my fingertip's skin are falling off, and within a few hours of playing my fingertips are already hurting so bad that I can't bend anymore, and I have to wait till the next day to be able to play again. I play quite often, it shouldn't hurt this bad, and I think .10 is alright for me, and I've used .10 before, but it's just that this time the tension becomes so tight that makes bending extremely difficult. I don't know is it the setup or what. Is there a way I can release the strings tension and make it less tight by myself? I thought the action is already pretty low, but if lowering the action is the only way to solve this problem, how do I lower the action?lower action makes bending more difficult, not easier.
  8. Federal Express, all the way. I was shipping all my stuff through UPS and getting HOSED on costs AND the gorillas who work there were consistently breaking things and leaving shipments in the rain, etc. This was over a 10 year period, so it's not like I was having a kneejerk reaction. Mazi Bee advised me to get a Fed Ex account and I have never looked back. Better shipping rates, better handling, better tracking, and WAYYYYYY better customer service. After 4 years with Fed Ex, I will never go back to UPS. I hate when I buy something from Amazon and they choose to ship UPS, because I can almost guarantee the box will arrive looking like the big brown truck drove over it. Not all shipping companies are created equal, that's for sure! I've noticed just the opposite in my area, actually. I get/send several packages each week on average.
  9. UPS is always more expensive than FedEx, even if you have a UPS account.nope. UPS is noticeably cheaper for me, with an account.
  10. This is common practice. I dont know of a single company who pays for the shipping charges on a warranty claim. I do have a couple questions. One is who did you ship through? Many times fed ex and the post office are much cheaper than UPS and they treat your stuff better. I just sent a 50lb head through fed ex for $36. The other question is since you knew the tubes were not under warranty and depending on the issue did you check the tubes for failure?yep, the speaker that I sent in for repair I have to pay shipping to them. They pay shipping back. That is pretty much the norm.
  11. why so much? I just sent a powered PA speaker to the east coast for repair for $19.91 and that was over 40lbs.
  12. I also would say Bandmaster, then maybe Tremolux
  13. Lord Valve is definitely my favorite for tubes. Dougs seems fine too. I'd like to give Laura some business but she doesn't carry much for EL84s.
