  1. So, what other pedals do you guys like and find useful in the studio? Here's my current pedalboard setup: Board #1: Modded Morley A/B Switch Out A -> Boss TU-12 Out B -> BYOC Fuzz Face Clone -> GCB-95 Crybaby -> OLCircuits Sunkist Squeeze (Orange Squeezer clone) -> HBE Germania -> Fulltone OCD (V.3) -> MAD DD30 -> HBE Power Screamer (w/ fat boost) -> Danelectro Fish & Chips EQ -> OLCircuits Chunky Cheddar (Lovetone Big Cheese fuzz clone) -> Boss PS-5 -> Lovetone Brown Source Board #2 SIB! The Treminator -> Lovetone Doppelganger -> Lovetone Wobulator (splits to stereo at the output) => Line 6 MM6: Left output -> Danelectro Reel Echo -> Amp #1, Line 6 MM4 Right output -> Diamond Memory Lane -> Amp #2. I've got a few other pedals, but that's what's on my boards right now. I'm pretty happy with all of it, but I definitely want to ditch the TU-12 for a Strobostomp, I crave a Colorsound wah, and I am thinking about ditching the MM4 for individual modulation pedals and replacing the Reel Echo with a small analog delay such as a AD9 or something similar. Having some select pedals around the studio can be a very good thing IMO. I've got a Paul Cochrane Timmy thats pretty sweet for some stuff, a Teese Picture Wah, and a Guyatone MD3 micro delay. It's a digital delay but sounds really quite good. The other pedal I find pretty useful is an old Pearl Compressor. I only use it if it's going to be on. It can be a tone sucker when off. But it's nice for rounding and fattening things out, not so much for the chiken pickin thing. Pretty versitile because it has a tone knob, as well as a level, attack and sustain. Otherwise I have an EH chorus and a few other modulators but I kinda prefer adding that stuff in the mix. For the most part I like running straight into my amp and add stuff later. It all depends on what i'm workin on. I'll be pickin up an OCD this week though.
  2. Sounds cool Lee. I don't use high gain too often, more blues/funk stuff and classic rock. If I need high gain my 800 and a pedal is more than enough. Thanks for the insights. Rob
  3. Well now i'm convinced I need one when someone in the recording forum gives props to a pedal! I use a modded SD-1 but it gets schrill with the tone past noon when recording it. It benifits with an EQ too somtimes. It's either an OCD or i'm savin my pennies for a Klon. What amp and how are you running it? Clean amp, semi-dirt amp??
  4. I wouldn't know but that sounds like a great project! If you know and trust the family, can you just ask them what they might have paid in the past?
  5. Originally posted by tamoore Well, I wasn't talking about great vocal performances... I was talking about my vocal performance...... Looking back on my post, that was a pretty stupid reply to the question. Sorry for sounding like a prick! Worse yet a prick with great vocal ability!! I can and do sing but great performances are far and few between. I have used a SP B-1 for vocals, a 57 a 58, and my go to mic for vocals is an EV nd767. It's been said here already but finding a mic that suits a voice is the trick. It's hard to say that one mic is "thee best" for everyone.
  6. With all due respect, I submit that a great vocal performance will make any gear sound good. That's all , Rob

I am leaning at mellow stuff like lightning crashes, some tom petty stuff, not much faster than that. The Eagles have alot of strummy stuff thats do-able , well , minus vocal harmonies. I saw a guy do Locomotive breath by Jethro Tull one manned and the place really moved. Something alittle more current might be that Green day acoustic tune I think it's called Time of your life? I don't know if country is your bag but Garth Brooks, Thunder Rolls is pretty intense. Not sure on your vocal range but Crazy little thing called love might get a crowd tappin thier feet. One man and a guitar?? I'd be nervous as hell. Never tried it in 20+years of giggin! I have alot of respect for guys that pull that off, and so does a crowd!! Good luck.
  8. our band played at a friends wedding some years ago. Everyone was openly telling the guy ,, dude, don't marry this chick, she's a whore! He just laughed and says hey, I knocked her up, i'm gonna do the right thing. So we do the wedding and it was a blast. Not your typical wedding. It was at a bar and it was a truely rockin time. Well, durring the coarse of the night, the bride starts flirting around with ALL the band guys. Our other guitarist was single and he was drinkin and gettin horned up. By the way, this girl was hot. Just a slut is all. Well she ended up following our guitar player home, walking in his house and fuckin his brains out on the wedding night! Two days later she was at my house but my then girlfriend was over so she just visited. Then I heard that same night she went to our drummers house and did him! WOW! Needless to say, they are divorced now.
  9. Yes, another gremlin exists!! My drummer plays guitar a bit and he has a gremlin. We actually use the term to describe killer guitars. Obviously it's not a high grade guitar but a great beginner. His gremlin has withstood many a drunken air-jam:D
