I'm not sure if it's still there, but at least there used to be this very small Black Baptist church on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, quite close to my father's place. He and I tooted around blazing hot Madison for a day or two (we saw Michelle Shocked whacking her wah and yelping about being a pyromaniac at some small college venue), and then we drove up to Lake Superior and sea-kayaked around the Apostle Islands for about a week. That water sure was cold. Lots of mosquitoes too.
