Today its just getting twisted it used to be Adam and Eve in the Bible,,whats next Adam and Steve???? Any chance you could just shut up? Steve
  2. Originally posted by skipstar59 I'm an old geezer, classic rock dude, and I can't play that shred stuff. I give credit where credit is due. For a 15 yr old the guy CAN do more than most 15 yr. old guitar players. Honestly it really is envy that most at 30,40 or 50 can't do that stuff. You just gotta get over it. Some people are GIFTED musicians and have a natural abitlity to pic up music quickly while others can't. My son just turned 16 in April and is a very gifted musician with WAY more talent than me. He writes, records and plays ALL the instruments on his recordings.Even if he were not my son, I think the stuff he records IS impressive for his age. Here's a link to his music. my son's page Hmmm.... I dunno, man... he's pretty young... strike one... does he play fast? If so, I'm afraid he sucks... Steve
  3. Originally posted by Teleplayer the kid in the vid - he's 15, cut him some slack. I think he should be proud of learning the song. He will improve with time. He's proven that he is one very determined player. My guess is that he will get better with age. Just think where he'll be when he is 20. At 20 he won't be old enough, bitter enough or jealous enough to be good yet. Give him another 20-25 years or so after he turns 20 and he may have possibilities. As long as he starts to play slow... Steve

  5. Originally posted by Aineias On a more serious note (well it's hard to hit a mroe rediculous note when MYK is in the thread): A friend of mine was playing that piece when he was 16. Was reall yinto shred, technique etc. However, since then, he's discovered Paco de Lucia, Al Di Meola, Franke Gambale and co. , all of whom play very quickly and require great technique to get into their stuff - but he's got the technique to play it all and is now developing in terms of musicianship. He hardly even plays electric guitar now, mostly playing the acoustic and experimenting with some Indian instruments. The point is that there needs to be a level of maturity reached before one can develop forms of "artistic expression". Yes, there are some 14 year old kids who can play very challanging pieces of music, just as there are 14 year old kids who can paint an almost photographic piece. However, until you're into your mid twenties (unless you're extremely precocious), you simply don't have enough experience of life in order to have something artistic to express. For the same reasons, I dislike the teaching of poetry to young teenagers (as a general principle) - since most of thme will not be able to grasp it's depth. However, if you taught 14 year old's sufficient grammar and vocabulary, by the time they DO have something to say, they're full yequipped with every tool they ned to express it succinctly and beautifully. Same principle with music. Develop the technique early on - then you're equipped, technically, to say whatever it is you need to say. You're like all serious or something, huh? Steve
  6. Originally posted by Knut E Evenmo To anyone complaining: I`ve yet to hear very many people @hcaf with better technique than this guy. This was about that, not feeling. Here's the deal -> Fast playing = bad tone, sloppy, no feeling, no good... Technique is not important as long as you play slow and can vibrate the string real wide. Then you are good. Oh...and age is important. It is best to be old, bitter and jealous. These are the traits of exceptional guitarists... Please make a note of this... Steve

  9. Originally posted by MetalGuitar08 If you're talking solely about this player, then I don't hear perfectly executed sweep picking. I enjoy shred and fast guitar, but it can't be pulled off with open notes ringing out everywhere. You're missing the point. ALL fast playing is sloppy, has no feeling and has bad tone. Steve

  12. Everyone sucks and plays with no feeling and is sloppy with bad tone if they play fast. If they play slow with wide controlled vibrato, they have feeling and are great, with excellent tone. I would rather hear three slow notes than 1000 perfectly executed sweep picked notes per unit time. So, net/net, this kid sucks... Age is no excuse. He should not play fast anymore and then he will be good. Especially if he spends the next 10 years developing wide, controlled vibrato. No more posts are necessary on this thread. Thank You, Steve
  13. Originally posted by STEEL KAGE If it really was the truth, he wouldnt need to spin, edit and do otherwise to show it. Im not saying that hes fabricating but Come on, MM's tactics are well documented and debunked... While I can't say I didn't appreciate some of what MM was trying to point out in that movie, the "creative editing" borders on outrageous. At one point, he has a clip of Rice saying something and then cuts away before she finishes, although she pauses so it appears legit. It made her look really bad and if you hear the full clip of what she said, it is the exact opposite of what Moore makes you believe in the movie. Total bull{censored} IMO... Steve
  14. Originally posted by Def_Pearl_Pilot I have to agree with you on this one. I didn't know what this guy's reputation was before and I don't know after. I could see if this guy made $75 million and LOST it as a direct result of the movie due to lost contracts or something. Or, if he had the *real* potential to earn that much money and now can't because his rep was ruined. Steve
