1. First I thought it was a Washburn Idol, then I thought it was a Hagstrom. I like the figuring but the bridge looks like Meccano.
2. Not sure if this is any help?

Interesting multi-tasking concept. Just wondering if anyone has played guitar while on a treadmill or something. I tried it on this stupid little stepper thing once and it actually went OK ! I predict that you will get sectioned soon. My kids have got a trampolene in the back garden- the mind boggles.
4. Why, put them in the freezer of course. Or set them in concrete.
5. Pointy guitars are old hat buddy. Sticking with classic designs which are adapted to suit your playing is the way to go. If you are rocking the tele that you posted a picture for earlier then you will look good. Also if you are overweight why not try to lose some extra baggage? If you are bald keep it short. No shame in growing old my friend. Keep on rocking. Thankyou, yeah I shave the remainder. I want to lose weight but exercising is hard for me as I have artheritis in my legs which is very bad in my left knee. Its a kind that doesn't improve with regular excersise (Psoriatic)in fact it becomes painful and inflamed. See I really am old!
6. OP - I turned 46 last week. I grew up on classic Dio, Priest, Maiden, Accept, VH, Sabbath and AC-DC with Bon Scott. I love that stuff. It's on constant rotation on my MP3 player. However my listening pleasure has grown with age. I listen to 70's funk, Prince, Mike Stern, Johnny Winter, Frank Marino, Electric and acoustic blues. It's a heady mix of genres. I don't play metal anymore. Not because I can't or I worry about my image. I play what I hear in my head. These days its stuff like Johnny Winter, Frank Marino and Eric Clapton. I actually used to worry that my metal friends would think I sold out. LOL!! Play what you love. The rest will fall in place. Thats cool, I love me some old school Metal! I have always enjoyed listening to all kinds of music and I think that there is a bit of everything in my music. The thing is it was Metal that inspired me to pick up the guitar and what keeps me picking it up (I'm a singer and programmer also). I have a freind who when asked what kind of music he likes says "Iron Maiden. Everything else is {censored}". He says it completely deadpan, its hilarious!.
7. {censored} getting old. 50 soon, and I'm gonna rock 'til I drop. {censored} the naysayers! chuckles:lol: {censored} EM HARD AND WITHOUT MERCY! Yeah you need to keep making music dude - liking your stuff.
8. Thanks for all of your kind replies. I haven't posted for a while cos I'm at work (which also means I haven't been able to view your pics Krashpad). To pick up on one point I'm in a band which I love. We don't sell loads of records but I really believe in the music we make and feel very lucky to be playing with such great musicians who also love what were doing. So although I do like money - don't get me wrong, I could definitely do with some right now- its never been a factor in what we play.
9. I don't think there's anything wrong with 40 somethings (or anybody any age) playing pointy guitars. Pointy guitars are not my thing, but they do make sense for metal. I like metal, yet I gave up trying to play it a long time ago. For those that can play metal well, I applaud them. I didn't say I was any good! I sold the Jackson. Truth be told it wasn't really doing it for me anyway, but I think my pointy days are over:lol: Used the money to buy one of these- which I love- pretty Metal anyway right?!
10. Kids. I can relate to this. I've been 40 at least 19 times already. I left the UK for a new life in Asia when I was 42 I got married when I was 45. I redefined my life style completely in terms of direction, exercise, diet and spirituality after turning 50 I took up guitar again when I was 56. So what did I learn? 1) 40 ain't that old these days. Life is not all 17-25. 2) NEVER worry about what other people think - if you enjoy it and it does no harm to anyone else, get on with it. 3) With a bit of luck, 40 is about halfway for most people. If you think you are getting old, think about what you did so far and imagine having the same amount of time still to come. 4) Watch out for the sudden urge to buy a Ferrari and a blonde to fit in it. This will pass. Oh and Happy Birthday. Thanks! The trouble is I feel old! You're right though, I think this may all hint at a need to make some more substantial lifestyle changes.
