THIS. Is a {censored}ty thing to say. I don't know what the {censored} you guys are talking about. I'm a starving artist. I thought about trying to "make it" and decided I didn't have the dedication to starve for my art.

I grew up in a suburban upper-middle-class family and now I'm in college. I've never been rich but I've never been without my creature comforts either. I don't expect enough money to buy everything I want, but I would like to earn enough money to buy everything I NEED and SOME of the things I want. And I would expect to have a family eventually, although God knows that's along way away. I feel like I'm not at the point where I understand exactly what that translates to as a pure dollar value. But I'm at school studying for a public policy degree; I'll probably end up working for "the man" (I'm perfectly OK with that) and with any luck won't have to worry too much about finances.

I'd consider the volume of an acoustic guitar to be a good benchmark for what's an acceptable volume level during the daytime. If you're playing your electric plugged in, it shouldn't be louder than your acoustic. If you want to have a band, bring an amp that's small enough to CARRY to wherever you plan to rehearse or perform, unless you go to some mythically awesome school where they let freshmen have cars.
