  1. PRS. take your pick of the aforementioned DGT, Mira, or the SC58 (or the Stripped version).
  2. will wait for the dvd...Movies I do want to see in the theater: Battleship
  3. Can I ask a serious question? Why is it that some (most) of you here act as if you can only play blues if you've felt "pain" and had to pay your "dues"? "oh my god he's never picked cotton, or had to sell chicken eggs by the side of the road, or never spun out of control on coke, therefore he hasn't paid his dues!" That's one of the laughable things I've ever heard. You middle aged white folks crack me up. middle aged white folk should play what they're best at: lite rock.
  4. What about Joe Bonamassa? Joe grew up in the Rust Belt of New York. He doesn't know the hardship of Fairfield, CT.
  5. My point is that THAT is the definition of a "VINTAGE" guitar. Something you seek out because they don't make them like they used to. Some plywood Japanese guitar? Get out of here with that crap. that's not really a fair assessment of a hollowbody. laminates were used as a way to reduce feedback. "plywood" would mean every Gibson ES series guitar out there is just "cheap crap". obviously that's not the case.
  6. i'm not a fan of paying high prices for the budget instruments of yesteryear. see how much you can knock that price down. if you can get it down to $500, then i say go for it. but IMO, $700 is too much unless you absolutely positively love it above everything else you've ever played ever, and won't sell it. because i'm not convinced they're going to go up in price from where they are now. i could be completely wrong, but that's my opinion.
  7. this forum never really had a way. it's only purpose was to keep the gear threads from dropping off the map in Guitar Jam. that's why the Electric Guitars forum was created by Scott Lehman in the first place. so there might actually be some discussion of guitars, instead of just shred vs. flog wars. the quality of those discussions was never a concern.
  8. i've become a lot more accepting of modern stylings and innovations of the instrument, and a lot more tolerant of cloners and reasonable variations on old themes. at least part of that is response to the reactionary luddite attitude, and the blind brand devotion, of HCEG posters.
  9. I agree. It doesn't get much better than that for tons of classic tones, regardless of what the prices are. don't get me wrong. i'm about the hatiest strat hater there is. but purely from a dollar perspective, he's on the wrong end of the deal.
  10. you're giving up an MIA Fender and a DRRI? i think he's getting the better end of the deal.
